ANNOUNCEMENT

I'm extremely excited to announce that I have opened an online vintage shop, Kansas Couture Vintage, on Etsy.com.

Click HERE to check it out.

My goal is to offer distinctive vintage items, spanning a range of styles, sizes and prices, that interact with current runway trends in an interesting way. Every item I sell has my seal of approval for style. My current selection includes everything from fabulously embellished '80s sweater dresses to tailored skirts to colorful shoes for spring. I anticipate adding new inventory frequently, so check back often to score the best finds.

Thanks for looking, and let me know what you think!

My Lucky Break

Last week, I had one of the most incredible experiences of my life. As one of three finalists in the My Denim Transformation Challenge, Lucky Magazine flew me to New York for a photo shoot. Our feature will appear in the April 2009 issue. A more detailed post with pictures will come soon. Until then, check out these articles detailing our experience!

My Fav NYC Finds

A few items I picked up during an inspiring week in New York.

This casual vintage look features a dusty rose sweater paired with tomboyish jeans and sneakers.

Sweater: Beacon's Closet, Williamsburg, $13
Jeans: Cheap Monday, Beacon's Closet, Williamsburg, $11
Shoes: Urban Outfitters, birthday gift
Necklace: Antique Mall, Lawrence, Kansas, $2

Electric purple gives this retro silhouette a fun twist.

Dress: Century 21, New York City, $25
Tights: Urban Outfitters, birthday gift
Shoes: Payless, sample from work
Belt: Thrifted, Madison, Wisconsin, $1
Necklace: Beyond the Door, Lawrence, KS, $6

I've been on the lookout for some relaxed fit trousers. These aren't perfect: they're more structured than I would like, and I'm too short to wear cropped pants. A good start though.

Shirt: TJMaxx, $6
Pants: H&M, NYC, $10
Shoes: Patricia Field for Payless, sample from work

Hints of neon and ultra-short hemlines are hot for spring. Paired with all black, this floral mini really stands out.
