Mixing it Up

Sweater: Banana Republic via Plato's Closet, $5 // Skirt: H&M, $10 // Shoes: Payless, gift // Necklace: Goodwill, $1 // Headband: Urban Outfitters, $5

It is my belief that any neutrals can be mixed and matched, but my principle was put to the test yesterday while getting dressed. I put on this outfit as you see it and found myself desperately longing for my grey sweater to be camel; it would look so much better with the warm tones of the leopard print. I came this close to scrapping the look all together but then decided to power through. After adding accessories, reminding myself of my own "rule" and giving the ensemble a stern stare in the mirror, I decided I loved it just like this.

  1. I love this outfit and I'm kicking myself for not buying that skirt. It's so adorable.

  2. This is a great photo of you! Your legs look a mile long and I actually really like the grey with the pop of red. Good job sticking to your neutral guns.

  3. I'm a big fan of wearing all neutrals mixed together. Primary colors paired together is even better! There's a Tory Burch sweater in camel that is paired with red pants and I love the look, so I understand why you wanted to pair those two. However, I love the way you're working it!

  9. Stern stare! Cute - I do that too. Sometimes I close one eye and then the other. A tilt of the head and then finally! Its a yes or no.
I love this and think it really shows your creativity

  10. Sometimes the best outfits come from pieces you'd least expect. Congratulations and following through despite your uncertainty in the beginning!

  11. I like this version--the camel would be more expected, the grey isn't.
