Accurate Expression

Dress: H&M, $30 // Sweater: Vintage, $8 // Boots: Courtesy of BC Footwear

With my collar peeking out of a preppy vintage sweater, I felt slightly dorky in this ensemble. But that adequately describes me, so why not channel it through my clothes? Case in point? The following photo...

A couple of things happen when my roommate (as opposed to a self-timer) takes my pictures. I get downright giggly, and my diminutive stature is betrayed! Camera angles can be mighty deceptive.

In other news (and don't hold me to this because I can be fickle when it comes to appearance changes), I think I'm growing my hair out -- all the way out like long hair days (see below)! After over two years of experimenting with different cuts and colors, going back to natural locks sounds refreshing. That means I've got a lot of awkward lengths to look forward to. As you can see, I'm already having to get creative.

 Remember this? I hardly do!

  1. Oh man, I didn't read your blog back when you had the lovely lady locks, but I LOVE it! You look fantastic either way, but the hippie, flowing look suits you so well.

  2. It's true - the height of the photographer makes such a difference. You look so cute and small in these pics. :) And I say go for it, I love that long haired bohemian look!

  3. Ohhh you can rock the short hair and the long hair!! I love this dress, it looks lovely with the orange sweater on it. I get super giggly when someone else takes my pictures too

  4. I am a big fan of deceptive camera angles. When i have my way my tripod is about 2 feet off the floor, and I yell at my photographer boyfriend to get that low too... he doesn't like it.

Great sweater. I love the prep look.

  5. Wow, I can't wait to see your hair long! It look so pretty! I love the style you've got in these photos, though....did you just tuck it in on the other side?

  6. I don't think the collar popping out looks dorky, I think it's a super cute look! And while your hair does look beautiful, I loved your long hair! I can't wait to see what you do with it while it is growing out, though. haha.

  7. Oh, your hair looks so cute today! I'm growing mine out, too, but getting it perm-curled tomorrow, which is just a step back. :)
    <3 the outfit, too!

  9. I just grew my hair back out after having it really short for several years. The transition was awkward at times, but I love having long locks again.

  10. Your hair looks great at any length, it seems, but I'm partial to long hair :) And I'm right there with you, I'm trying to grow out my hair as well. Such a pain!

  11. Wow your hair was really long! I decided to stop coloring my hair and started growing it out about 5 years ago. I'm too scared to cut it (or color it) now! I like it all natural for me :)

  12. The same thing happens to me when other people take my picture! There's something about it that makes me look so much shorter in the pictures. And then I usually end up with a ton of goofy facial expressions.

Also, I love the sweater layered over your cute dress. The collar peeking out is great.
