Repurposing

Dress: Courtesy of ModCloth // Shirt: H&M, $10 // Shoes: Lucky Brand, courtesy of Lucky
Magazine // Necklace: Wild Man Vintage

I have a bad habit of buying dresses for special occasions and then never wearing them again. While this frock isn't terribly formal, the strapless silhouette lessens its versatility. In an attempt to get more use out of a pretty piece, I layered it over a tee for work. Worked for me!

  1. I love the dress layered over the tee. It looks like it was meant to be that way, and the yellow belt is just perfect.

  2. I have the exact same problem - I often use an event as an excuse to buy a new dress! I like to tell myself it's because you're always photographed so much at events and you don't want to be in every picture with the same dress, but really it's just an excuse to go shopping. I really like this idea and I never would have thought of it. Great idea!!!

  3. Lovely! It looks perfect layered over the shirt. I thought that's how the dress was just made. I love it! You styled it very nicely with a yellow belt. That pop of color really makes the outfit.

PS the hearts on the brick wall are so cute!

Just curious, what was the event that you wore the dress for?

  6. I really like how you restyled that strapless dress. It's a cool dress in the first place with the stripes, but the black t-shirt looks great under it. It looks like it's all one dress! And the yellow belt works perfectly too!
