Keep it Classic
While pretty much all of my outfits have a certain level of quirk, I liked all the classics at work in this look -- from the fall colors to the gingham print to the timeless finishing touches.

Cut Loose
I asked myself what I might miss wearing once cold weather sets in. Nothing says summer quite like cut-offs, so I grabbed this pair of short shorts. In an attempt to class them up a bit, I added a fully buttoned shirt, pearls and pumps.

Trend to Try
I'm loving the sleek, ladylike look of pointed toe pumps for fall! Bonus points for ankle straps and cap toes. Will you try this trend?

Dress Drama
With an event coming up, naturally I wanted a new dress to wear, but I didn't want to spend much money. I thought I had hit the jackpot when I found this pink number for a mere $11, but it was too good to be true. Not only was the full-length skirt too formal, but I also couldn't get the zipper up! Determined to make it work, I removed the zipper, let out the seams to make it bigger, added a new zipper and hemmed it to a shorter length. With many a botched sewing project in my past, I was pretty proud of myself for pulling this one off!

On the Dot
Polka dots are a perennial favorite, but I'm more in love with them this season than ever. What better way to pay homage to this perfect pattern than to double up on dots! Sticking to similar colors kept this look from getting too kooky, but it definitely felt fun!

Cruel Summer
Lately I've been so focused on fall fashion and already accustomed to the cooler temperatures, that I hardly knew what to wear when I realized it was in the mid-80s. Running late for a movie date, I came this close to throwing on a sweater and jeans against my better judgment. Ultimately I grabbed this pretty printed tunic off my "to alter" pile, slapped a belt on it, threw on a bright mini skirt and summery sandals and called it good!

Trend to Try
I've always been a golden girl through and through, but silver feels so fresh this season!

Bright Idea
In eager anticipation of the coming season, I've been keeping a mental list of fall outfit ideas. Yesterday's downright chilly weather gave me an opportunity to check one off! I felt so cozy and colorful in this layered look. Bring on the brisk days!

Dolled Up
I felt a bit over-dressed for dinner at a dive-y bar in this ladylike ensemble, but you'll be glad to know I managed to not get any stains on my white shirt! Sadly, that's quite an accomplishment for me. In other news, now that my hair is reaching longer lengths, I need to put a bit more thought into how I wear it. While ponytails can be stylish, I always fell back on that style far too often when my hair used to be long. Once it's long enough for proper milkmaid braids and top knots, those will be go-to styles, but I'm really going to try to keep it creative! What's your favorite up-do?

Lemon World
Yellow is my favorite shade, so why not wear it head to toe? While I plan to keep playing with the monochromatic trend into fall, I don't know if I'll find a look I like more than this sunny combination.

Trend to Try
I've always had a soft spot for borderline tacky sweaters, but this season I can't get enough! The bolder, brighter and sillier, the better! While there are plenty of high-end designer options out there, this is a great item to search for at the thrift store.
Kicking Back
Here's a menswear-inspired get-up I wore on a super lazy Sunday. This is just about as casual as it gets -- a roomy button-up, stretchy jeans, flat oxfords and no jewelry in sight.

Idyllic Conditions
The weather was so perfect over the weekend. It was cool enough on Friday that I was able to wear my first sweater of fall! This fun slouchy number I recently thrifted seemed perfect for kicking off perhaps my favorite season. Boots felt a bit overkill, so I kept it transitional with strappy sandals and finished the look with edgy accessories.
